For this project, I created book covers for a series written by Alain De Botton. My aim when creating this imagery was to use simple but engaging graphics to capture the viewer’s attention while simultaneously alluding to the contents of the book.
For 'The Art of Travel,' I arranged straight lines in a display of arrows that point in different directions to artistically symbolise travel. In addition to this, I used the colour blue to signify the sky as this is the colour that people most often associate with travelling.
‘The Architecture of Happiness’ cover was also created using straight lines however here they have been arranged in a geometrical pattern so as to represent the more rigid architectural forms. The colour yellow was chosen to represent happiness and to contrast well with the grey lines.
