Check-in MATE was the outcome of a group project that we presented to Google’s Creative Lab. We were tasked with designing a product/ experience/ system or similar that would benefit a post COVID world.
Through primary research, it became clear that the hospital check-in system was vastly different at each location, causing confusion and frustration for patients and staff. We wanted to create a system that was easy to use and didn't require a heap of forms to be filled out with unnecessary information.
Using illustration, typography and an experience design program, we created a quick and easy check-in process that was intended to be included in the Service NSW app. Our aim was to design a government looking interface that included welcoming icons, such as friendly faces and hand gestures, to give people a sense of calm and to minimise stress when checking in.
