My close friends recently enlisted me to design their wedding invitation.
They preferred a minimalist and elegant look which contained limited information. Illustrations and decorative backgrounds were ruled out, so the focus was to be on the text. They wanted a dark blue theme that would be cohesive with other aspects on the day such as the bridesmaids’ dresses and floral arrangements.
By juxtaposing elaborate serif typefaces with simple sans serif typefaces, I created invitations that are minimalist yet opulent. I designed a few different styles and they are now deciding between their two favourites.
I am working closely with the couple to ensure the colour and design of the invitation is consistent with other aesthetic aspects of the wedding, and we will select from paper stocks that preserve the luxurious design.
