‘Deconstruction’ is the piece I created for my Visual Art major work. It was selected and showcased at the New South Wales 2014 Art Express; an exhibition presenting the best HSC submissions from around the state.
My work consists of ceramic pieces that are composed of various deconstructed bowls, reassembled to create sculptural forms. These deconstructed bowls act as a metaphor for colour blindness and the idea that I see things differently to everyone else.
Using the motif of a simple bowl (an object identifiable by anyone), I aimed to show, how in the world, we all see things differently. I used the Ishihara charts as decoration to create a connection with colour vision deficiency.
